Calf Creek

So we finally made it to Calf Creek so we could begin our hike. It was cool when we first arrived and once the sun came out we were all sweaty! The kids did pretty good. It was a two hour hike in and a two hour hike out. So I'm very proud of the little ones. (although if you are two adults hiking it, plan on half the time)

Here we are starting the hike, everything is still dead, but hey it's a great time to go, because it only gets hotter outside! Although if you wait, it may be greener.
Getting into the cliffs, and yes, Andrew walked the whole way.
Looking at all the fish in the creek.
Some Pictographs on the cliffs.
Jacob making is own, don't worry we erased it all and left it the way it looked when we got there. WE MADE IT!
Very beautiful waterfall.
Jacob, making mud pies.Having lunch and feeding the crow.

This last picture is called "Hogs Back" It was very scary. There is cliffs on both sides as you are driving down a windy highway. This picture doesn't seem bad at all, but it was scary when you're flying down it in a car, and you're not in control.

How fun! When we're older and don't have to take the kids with us everywhere we go...or can leave them home to watch themselves...it would be fun to do just an adult vacation. Staying up late, playing games, laughing and swimming sounds like so much fun! Someday.

Yep! That the road I was talking about! I totally know what you mean about it being nerve racking going over it. Especially at the point where it is a 90+ degree turn.

So Doug and Trish decided to hike Calf Creek about three summers ago. They did it without water and in the heat of the summer. I am sure it took them upwards of three hours. hahaha We still laugh about their careless, unplanned hike.
