1st Grade Olympics

The first grade had a mini olympics on Friday.

I am proud to say that Devyn took the gold medal in girls running.

That means she is the fastest girl first grader!

She also got a bronze medal for the Javelin Throw!

Here is her final race. These were the fastest girls, as you can see it was an extremely close race. But I am proud of her, she was so nervous about this for a few weeks, silly girl.

Bean Museam

For Devyn's field trip this year they went to the Bean Museum. I helped chaperone the kids and luckily I was only in charge of two girls other than my own kids. When Ethan was asked where he went that day he said the zoo but all the animals were shot and dead. I thought it was kinda funny, but now he will tell you it was the museum.

They have a scavenger hunt for the kids. (Or something like that) You have to find answer certain questions by finding certain animals. If you ever go with a big group of kids I suggest you fill out 1 paper together, do not let them have their own, unless they are at least older than 7. It was crazy trying to help each one spell everything. But they had fun doing it.

He did it!

The other day Jacob and I went for a little walk/ride, meaning I walked and he rode his bike. As I watched him I knew I could take his training wheels off, but last year when I did that he wouldn't really try he just always wanted to ride the scooter.

Once we got home from our walk I talked to him about taking them off. I held on the seat as he went down the road and he just told me to let go, so I did and he was off! It took him a few tries to figure out how to get going by himself but I didn't really do anything, he just did it on his own! I'm so glad he can do it now!

He's even so proud of his bike that he has to stop to wash it.

(I wonder how long that will last)

Planting Pumpkins

Grandpa MyronDan's Grandpa Myron is the cutest little grandpa. Both of my grandfathers died before I was born and I have always wanted a grandpa so I have kinda adopted him to be mine too, not just Dans. Living next to him I was lucky to learn a lot about gardening from him, and he will tell you that his corn grows best when I plant it. (Hey, what can I say, I'm a natural)

Grandpa has a huge garden and I told him to plant pumpkins this year, (meaning to take up space in his garden), but instead he just made the garden bigger for me to plant pumpkins. Ooops, I wasn't trying to make the garden bigger but oh well. He had shown me the space he had for the pumpkins, so I bought seeds and I'm a bit excited to see them grow.

GIANT & Big Max Pumpkins weighing 50-100 lbs each. The biggest one weighing 1,600 lbs. Yeah, I'm super excited to have the biggest pumkin in town.

I hope the kids always remember days at Grandpa Myrons house. I'm sure Jacob will. We were able to get the seeds all planted, now we just need to keep them weeded until they get established.

FHE Kickball

Monday night we had a combined FHE with my family. We all got together to play kickball and we had a lot of fun. I think this is something we will do this again.

It will be really different next year when I have two kids gone everyday. Ethan will get more one on one with mommy, but I'm sure he will be very sad when his little buddy is in school for a few hours everyday. I'm just not as much fun to play cars, and animals with.

(Almost done with school, only a few more weeks and Devyn will be done, I can't wait!)

Maple Lake

Last week we decided to take a hike up to Maple Lake and go fishing. Because the gate is still closed off you can't drive up there so we had quite the walk there. Even though the trees still don't have their leaves, it was very pretty.

Sticks are fine, but when they get too big, they get in the way.

It was nice that the fish were biting like crazy. Jacob could cast and real them in all by himself. He even caught a fish with no help at all.

Now Devyn got one!

Devyn wanted me to make her fish into fish sticks. So I told her if she caught some fish then I would make them for her.

This was a fun place for her to fish because they were biting like crazy, you don't have to be patient.

Yay, another fish and it's a big one.

We released a few back in the lake and ended keeping about six fish.
