Fall Time

Ten years ago when Dan and I were dating we carved our initials in a tree. And we went looking for the tree for the first time yesterday. It was so cool when I found it! And weird because since we carved it I haven't seen it so I wasn't sure if I would even be able to find it, I can't believe it's been 10 years!
For FHE we decided to go on a drive up the canyon to see the beautiful leaves. If you haven't been up there yet, you better hurry because I don't think they will be around much longer, it is so beautiful!
(I pretty much just took picture while driving so they were about all blurry)

We also had fun calling the elk. It is so fun to hear them call back too. But having the kids keep quite was a little challenge, mostly Ethan.
(I loved him covering his ears)

This picture had some sun spots or dust or something.
Ethan is such a sweet brother. Jacob wouldn't let Devyn rest her head on his shoulder and she was so tired. So Ethan let her rest her head on his shoulder, I thought it was sweet of him.

Grouse Hunt

Last weekend Dan took Jacob on a little grouse hunt. They had so much fun backpacking in camping, and then they got one, only one but it was more than enough for me.

Happy Birthday Devyn!

Happy Birthday to my little girl. Devyn turned 8 today and made me feel old when she went in to talk to the Bishop about getting baptised. I can't believe how fast the time has gone by
~
Here she is on the day she was born

Ice Skating

We let Devyn invite one friend to go Ice Skating with us at Peaks Arena. The kids had so much fun. I was so impressed with Ethan. That kid didn't even want to rest the whole time. He just kept going. If he fell he would just get up and go and go. It was so fun to watch them.

Cousin Sleepover!

I didn't let Devyn have a friend party this year for her birthday so on Friday night Devyn just had some cousins sleepover. They wanted me to do their hair crazy and dance.
At the end of this post you can watch them dance.

Yes, Devyn still loves barbies and keeps telling me how much she loves her barbie computer, it's so cool!
These girls got these bears when they were just babies. I don't think Devyn was even one year old. But she has loved this little bear all it's life and she calls it Boos. She obviously named it all by herself. You can see what Amelias Bear looks like (not as loved as Devyns)
Silly girls sleeping on the trampoline
The next morning playing on the trampoline
Here are the girls after I got them all crazied out and they showed me their moves.

Warning: songs may be bad

(My I-tunes wouldn't work and I didn't want to take time to figure it out. So I just opened Pandora and my oldest niece would tell me a song and i would type it in. And some nasty songs came on. It took me a bit to figure out they were too nasty for these young girls, but maybe Tyree just likes that kind of music.)

I'm sure they will just remember having fun dancing

I hope you can enjoy and just laugh. Don't judge me on what I let them dance to. I hope any family members will forgive me, but hey the girls knew some of these songs . . . what?!

Fruit Fly Trap

So maybe where you live the fruit flies are not that bad, but around here they are horrible! Maybe it's because of orchards that are so close, the rotton fruit that has dropped and the fruit flies are in thoroughly enjoying it. Where do they come from anyways?
~
Well I had a box of peaches I was hoping to get bottled. They were in the house one day when I moved them out to the garage because I didn't like the flies around them. They were good fresh peaches and out of nowhere the fruit flies found them.
~
A good friend of mine told me about a fruit fly trap so I thought I would give it a try. I took a quart size jar and squished a peach and threw it in. Then I covered it with Saran Wrap and poked some holes in the top with a toothpick. This jar stayed in the garage for a few days then I moved it outside. Can you believe this? It is about 5 days worth of fruit flies. I have another one I keep in the house. It doesn't look anything like this of course but still! I've been amazed you should try it. Any fruit will work of course but I'm thinking a smashed banana might work the best. Give it a try! I'm glad I did!

Labor Day!

On Labor Day we enjoyed the towns parade.
It's always fun to be with family, we are all crazy in our own way. I really enjoy hearing my sister cheer for everyone in the parade, it's funny to hear some of the thing that she says. She does this so they will throw the kids more candy, or if she sees them passing out diet coke. I still can't figure this one out since she just spent so much at the dentist last week.

And I love to hear my mom thank all the Beauty Queens to coming to our little towns parade. Does she know they are there to represent and support their city, not ours. It's one thing I love about my mom she is so kind and thoughful. I love it when my brothers get embarrased at the things that she says. She is still a little silly girl, I think I'm a lot like her.

I love my family, we all have fun together and can laugh about everything. Maybe noone understands us but we all understand each other.

~
Here are some of the kids at the parade
After we went up the canyon to roast wienies over the fire.
All Ethan wanted was some good old Mtn Dew from some bad influences (Grandma) He had been playing in ashes so his hands were black then he cried and covered his face with his hands and turned his face black.
He finally settled for a Sobe from grandpa
Jacob, he's my little eater, they say boys can eat, but I didn't think they would be able to out eat me at age 5.
Grandma & Grandpa with grandkids
Devyn and Kallysta
Always just silly
Playing in the creek
It was a fun day

Rockin 'R' Ranch

When I was 16 I spent the summer working on this ranch. Years later Ross the Intern went there trying out the work. Everytime I watch this video it makes me laugh. I just wanted to share with you all a little bit of my summer when I was a teen.
