He brought home what?

Okay, so Dan went looking for Deer & Elk again. But he didn't see any. Last time he brought home a horny toad, but this time he brought home somthing different. I had just got all the kids tucked in bed when he brought home a new animal and was so excited to show the kids. I about couldn't sleep knowing it was in my house.

Yes, a great big tarantula! I hate spiders! Go ahead and bring home lizards, snakes, and rats, but I wasn't sure about this.

After seeing it wasn't so fast moving, I could deal with it. We kept the poor thing for several days, but just added it to Jacob's bug collection. After seeing the fangs on that thing, Dan said he wouldn't have let it touch him if he had only known. It was a fun game to see who could let it crawl on them the longest.

The kids had a blast playing with it. Everyday they wanted to get it out and play, but I never let them of course, they had to wait until dad got home.

Hunter Jacob

On Friday Daniel took Jacob hunting. They got up really early & Jacob ended up hiking at least three miles himself. He had so much fun! I made Dan take the camera and here is a picture I got. Now Jacob thinks he needs to go with dad everytime!

First Day of School

So today was Devyn's first day at school!
I told her I wanted to take a few pictures and it turned into a modeling shoot. Oh well. I really wanted to do her hair really cute but she was all set on this blue headband with pig tails. I was fine with it as long as she let me do it. So we compromised.

She was a little nervous about her new teacher but when she got home she couldn't stop telling me how much fun she had and how much she loves Ms Kunkle! I'm so glad, because she was so worried!

Horny Toad

So while Dan was looking for Deer or Elk in the mountains the other day. All he found was this Horny Toad. So he brought it home and the kids have been have fun with it. If only he would eat all the bugs we catch for him. I believe he has eaten a grasshopper and possibly a potato bug. But if he doesn't start eating more I believe we will have to let him go!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAN!

On Friday Dan celebrated his 31st birthday.
We just had his parents over for dinner and cheesecake.
The kids were so excited to give him presents that they picked out on their own. I was really suprised on what they picked out. They really know their dad and are so thoughtful!
Dan got a new stock on his gun.
He was excited that he can finally use it now.
Ethan went and got Jacobs gun. He wants to be just like daddy.
Ethan & Jacob were trying to pop the balloons that they blew up to decorate for dads birthday. I forgot to get a picture of the cute sign Devyn made all by herself . . . oops
These pictures are blurry, but I thought this was so funny. Devyn was out riding her bike showing us some tricks that she has been doing. Ethan got on his bike and did some tricks too! He can ride his trike 1 handed! It was pretty funny.

Devyn and Grandpa Olson's crooked kiss.

Then on Sunday we went to my brothers
house and had Dan's Birthday potluck!
Look at all that smoke!
The family

The family does too much and all got him birthday gifts. Oh well, he was happy to get some new fishing stuff that he has wanted but just won't go out and buy it. Like a rack to hang his fishing poles, a fish fillet board, a gift card that he will spend on fishing stuff of course, and more fishing stuff, like hooks, & bait.
Mark & Edris' fun swing that hangs down from the tree.
(don't let go Ethan!)

Yes, Seven Peaks again!

Well it's kinda sad that the summer is almost over. We have spent a lot of time here at Seven Peaks and I don't know if we will be able to go back again. But we have had fun. Last week our cousins Riley, Jason and Cassie came with us. Ethan & I were able to go down the slide first then get pictures of everyone else coming down.
(Sorry Cassie, I barely missed you coming off the slide)

Orchard Days!

Well it was time for Orchard Days Celebration again. We went to the parade like usual, had Grandma and Grandpa over for dinner and then we went to the Rodeo. It was fun but I think we got there a bit early. I didn't know you were supposed to go stake your spot that morning, I thought if you went an hour before the show began you would find a great spot, boy was I wrong. I guess I will know for next year. But its kinda fun to watch the rodeo from your blanket all spread out eating our snacks. The kids liked going right to the fence to see the animals.

Here is Grandpa Myron in the Parade with the Vetrans.
(far right) He is my hero!

Here we are watching the parade. Don't you love it when people always stand right out in the road in front of you through the whole parade?

Here is Ethan showing me his candy, but he couldn't take his eyes off it!

Big Cheese! With her princess crown,

I thought we were done with the dress up stuff, but not yet!

Here at the rodeo, These cows were getting ready to be chased and tied down.

Our fireworks, I love it when you lay underneath them!
And I don't know what is more entertaining, the fireworks or the fire that they start every year. It seems entertaining for all! The firemen always seem to get it out fast!
