Calling Elk

Every year we like to take the kids on a little hike somewhere up the mountain and call some elk.  It's kinda fun to hear them call back and it's something the kids really look forward to.
We invited Grandma and Grandpa Olson to come with us.
Have you ever tasted a rosehip?
They were furry and I would rather starve - but everyone else couldn't get enough

After we had our fun trying to be quiet so we could hear the elk we let the kids have a turn calling them

Soccer

So once school started so did soccer,  The kids had games twice a week and it was fun to watch then play but it sure made us feel busy.  I was excited for it to be over but near the end they finally got it down and it was time to stop.
Here are a few snapshots I  took of them playing
First - Jacob
++----

It seems like most of the time Jacob got stuck playing goalie
It sure isn't as much fun to watch
And now Devyn - she had a great coach
and it wasn't until the last couple games that she really got aggresive

The sun was setting and Devyn struck a pose
I love that you can see her coach yelling in the background
Her team after the last game

Caleb eats!

So I couldn't help - I fed him rice cereal.
~
This little guy always wants to eat my food.  If anything is in hands reach he grabs it fast and it goes straight for his mouth.  I swear he is too little to do that . . . but he does.
So we all gathered around to watch him eat his first bowl of rice cereal and . . .
 . . . he like it!
We filled him up
Then cleaned him up
He is such a joy for the whole family

Devyn Turns NINE!

So my little girl isn't so little anymore, she sure is growing up faster than I would like her to, but what can I do about it?  Just days before her real birthday I let her have a friend party this year.  She really wanted to have a campout party, but we turned it into a latenight.  The girls had a lot of fun!
~
We started off by making them cook their own dinner
 Drinking their drinks in style

Unlimited amount of Olives . . . yum!

Caleb is just cute - isn't he?

 Don't forget yummy desert
 Devyn's Birthday Cake
(yes, I made it myself . . . well cooked it anyway)

 The crazy girlies
 Any scary face time
(These were some of the scariest faces I have ever seen!  What do you think?  I was VERY impressed, and I will hang onto these pictures since they may do me good years down the road)

 Play Time
These girls had so much fun running around, I didn't really need to entertain them
It was fun watching them trying to do a pyramid
Pretty hilarious watching them steamroll over one another
Devyn got pretty spoiled by her great friends
And enjoying a movie in the backyard
We apologize to all our neighbors for all the noise
but I think it was so fun we'll do it again!

Preschool

So I sent my little Ethan off to preschool
He loves to go to school and loves to walk (without my help of course)  Now it's just Caleb and I a couple hours a day a few days a week.
Love ya little buddy

My thoughtful boy

Last night for Family Home Evening the kids wanted to have a campfire and roast marshmallows for the treat.  After it was all over we made them go shower before they got into their clean beds.  I told them all to take a quick shower since we all needed to get in and we wanted to make sure there was hot water for everyone.  Devyn went in first (she always wants a nice long hot shower) then Ethan went into my bathroom to shower.  I went into check on Ethan and he had decided to take a bath instead.  Well my bathtub empties the whole tank alone and he had the tub about full!  Well Jacob got in the shower after Devyn and noticed that the hot water was about out hurried and turned the water off and shampood his hair and washed his body.  Then turned on straight COLD water to rinse himself off so that there would be some hotwater left for mom.  He ran to his room and put on two pair of pajamas one on top of the other because he was SO cold.  I felt so bad he did that for me.
~
Then this morning I made a smaller batch of German Pancakes for the kids.  I wanted to eat dinner leftovers for breakfast because I am wierd like that.  Each of the kids got 4 pancakes except Jacob - he ate 3.  I was going to give the last one to Ethan because he wanted more but Jacob wouldn't let me - he wanted me to eat it.  I told him I was fine but he insisted that I eat the last pancake.
~
This may sound silly to you all but I love to see my kiddos being so thoughtful and looking out for me,  Especially Jacob.   He is always the one thinking of others.  Whenever Dan is out of town and we make a treat, he wants to save some for Dad, even if it will be moldy by the time he gets home.

My little artist

My little Jacob has such a love for animals.  It's either making zoos and caring for them, or playing with his toy animals, even drawing pictures of him hunting animals.
~
I love all the detail in his animal hunts.
Here he is on the Elk Hunt
The Turkey Hunt
Mountain Goats
Black Bear Hunt
(I love that he is hiding in the tree & I love the little fish in the pond)

Labor Day

Watching the Labor Day Parade

Nate can be such a show off sometimes
So he got a T-shirt AND a frisbee at the parade
I'm SO jealous?

After the parade we went and had a BBQ up the canyon
Jacob was showing me how yummy his marshmallow was
Looks good
I like to get pictures of "The Marvs"

I can't remember why she had this sad face.
It must happen often
Dan skipped out on the parade - instead he rode his bike
from Santaquin to Payson Canyon and met us for some lunch
Then we met up with the Olsons for a little kickball.  It was pretty fun
Grandpa Myron was the cheerleader AND the babysitter
